right theory, wrong dimension is an ongoing project that interrupts linear time and adapts ancient philosophical text into visual ciphers. by disrupting time-space, the ideals of color, perspective, scale, and sequence of events blur together to form one event. each work examines aspects of human existence, thought and nature, if viewed by a higher dimensional being.
oscar mohl and chelley both left a remarkable stamp on my existence. professor mohl taught philosophy at cuny kingsborough college during the fall of 2007. his first lecture to the class was about heraclitus' theory of ever-present change. i reminisce about his worn, decaying skin, the eroded desk i sat in that day and 2007 with a smirk on my face.
chelley was an amazing artist and friend, who reignited my interest in the arts. one friday night towards the end of our spring 2009 semester at suny purchase college, chelley and i were raging, when she decided to draw a blind contour of me. she drew duck-me with snapback hat, lip piercings, the works. i laugh everytime! that night i drew the ‘higher dimensional beings’ for the first time. multiple times throughout the night she told me to get a sketchbook and start drawing. by the beginning of fall semester, i had finished two sketchbooks cover to cover and started my first painting. thinking back-- chelley saw something when the lead of my pencil wore away on to the paper, leaving an immediate trail of it's past existence-- somehow she knew this would bring me joy.
